Birders,
this evening I saw a red gorgetted (maybe a real word) hummingbird at my
house and the only noise from the wings was a buzz/hum. I did not get a
look at the tail to see if there was any white. It was gone too quickly.
Otherwise, it looked like a Broad-tailed/Ruby-throat but the red on the
gorget was a little different then the usual male BTHU but then again the
light wasn't too good. I sat outside with my camera for about 45 min until
it was dark trying to get a picture but to no avail.
Tomorrow, Tammy and I have a bird walk at Barr Lake in the a.m. so we won't
be here. If anyone wants to come and sit at the front of the house
(stairs/driveway/path) to see if they can get a look at a RTHU, please be
my guest. I'll try to remember to leave a couple of folding chairs out
front.
If you have any questions, send me an email and I'll check my mail later
tonight and tomorrow morning.
