As Rachel reported at mid-day, an adult Long-tailed Jaeger is working the
southern half of Boyd Lake (Larimer) in northeast Loveland. As seems to the
combo of the day, two Sabine's Gulls were also in that half of the res. Rachel
and I commissioned a boat and got good photos of both species, and at one point
even had the jaeger and a young Sabines sitting next to each other. It was
awesome to see the jaeger's long tail streamers, a rare sight in CO, indeed.

We saw one Sterna tern from a far off sitting on a buoy, but it looked too long
legged to be an Arctic.

The jaeger is usually sitting off by itself, occasionally chases a Franklin's
Gull, and is being moved around a bit by the boaters. It sometimes can be
associated very loosely with Western Grebes. We left the res at around 3:30pm
today and it was still present. We never saw it go north of the Swim Beach.
