The weather said "summer" but the birds said "fall"! This was the first
day since August 28 when Wilson's Warblers did not overwhelm all other
species, and the first day since then that they were not in double digits.
Instead, some bigger birds and more sparrows, including a flock of
Chippers, all caught in the same net late morning. Here's the breakdown of
the 34 new birds banded today:

Downy Woodpecker 2
House Wren 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
Hermit Thrush 3
Brown Thrasher 1 (FOS and likely to be only one!)
Orange-crowned Warbler 3
Wilson's Warbler 5
Green-tailed Towhee 1
Spotted Towhee 1
Chipping Sparrow 10
Lincoln's Sparrow 1
Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow 3

Open Thurs through Sat; closed Sun and Mon. Then next week open Tues
through Sat.
