Nov 6 A flock of 16 *Red Crossbills* were flying around at St. Mary Church on South Prince Street, Littleton (Arapahoe). They were Type 4 (Douglas-fir).
Nov 7 A *Cassin's Finch* was at my home in Ken Caryl Valley (Jefferson). Nov 8 (JeffCo) At my home there was a fly-by *Merlin* (Prairie form), 2 *Cassin's Finches*, and 3 *Evening Grosbeaks* and 1 *Red Crossbill* flying over. Nearby at Massey Draw upstream of Valley Parkway there were 3-5 more *Cassin's Finches* and 2 more *Evening Grosbeaks*. Also there was a late *Blue-gray Gnatcatcher*. An open space area near Mountain Laurel Drive in Ken Caryl Valley had a *Lesser Goldfinch* (my 1st in the Valley in about a month) and a tardy *Orange-crowned Warbler*. Dutch Creek near the Dakota Hogback had a juv. *Northern Shrike*. The Golden-crowned Sparrow from Nov 4 was not in evidence. Nov 9 (JeffCo) A *Winter Wren* was at Dutch Creek at the Dakota Hogback. The headwaters area of Dutch Creek had 6 Type 2 *Red Crossbills* and 22 Type 4 *Red Crossbills*. A juv.*Northern Goshawk* was soaring over the divide between Dutch Creek and Turkey Creek at Owling in the upper watershed of Massey Draw and nearby along the western margin of Ken Caryl Ranch produced a female *Long-eared Owl*, some *Nor. Saw-whet Owls*, a *Northern Pygmy-Owl* and *Great Horned Owls*. Nov 10 I visited Chatfield SP this morning in the warm before the storm. The high was a surprising 71 degrees around 10:30 am, but with the arrival of the storm front the temperature dropped over 35 degrees in just 45 minutes, and continued downward. Waterbird diversity was low on the lake, but there were 1 (or 2?) *Pacific Loons* (one seen near the dam seen from the sand spit [Douglas], was maybe the same or different as one seen over 90 minutes later from the Swim Beach (JeffCo), 8-9 *Common Loons*, 2 *Clark's Grebes*, and 4 *Bonaparte's Gulls*. At Plum Creek Nature area (Douglas) I walked a loop upstream from the washed out end of the road, circling back through grassland to the west (Douglas). There was an interesting movement of raptors generally moving south as nice tail winds picked up out of the NNW with the storm front approaching, but still blue skies over the park. Over a period of about 40 minutes I noted 18 *Red-tailed Hawks*, 1 *Ferruginous Hawk*, 1 *Northern Harrier*, 3 *Cooper's Hawks*, 1 *Sharp-shinned Hawk*, 1 *Golden Eagle*, and 1 *Merlin* flying over. A group of 4 *Sandhill Cranes* joined the southbound flow. Single *Swamp Sparrows* were in two different areas of cattail marsh along Plum Creek. *Eurasian Collared Doves* were flying over (all WSW and gathered in trees near Plum Creek, totaling to over 350 doves!
