Hi all, It appears the species total is 127 species I think for today's Pueblo Reservoir CBC. One new species for the count at Valco Ponds in Pueblo, EASTERN PHOEBE. seen and photographed by Dan Maynard. This is a first winter sighting for our Pueblo Area Bird Checklist area. Another interesting new bird for the count: a Redhead x Ring-necked Duck hybrid found by Mark Peterson and seen by many at Pueblo Reservoir. Some of the other highlights:Greater White-fronted Goose - 1Ross's Goose - 2Greater Scaup - 1Barrow's Goldeneye - 3 malesCommon Loon - 7 Clark's Grebe - 1Double-crested Cormorant - 2Northern Goshawk - 1Rough-legged Hawk - 1Peregrine Falcon - 1eight species of gulls: Bonaparte's Mew - 1 adult Thayer's Gull - 4 Lesser Black-backed - 13 Great Black-backed - 1White-winged Dove - I think in 70sWestern Screech-Owl - 7Short-eared Owl - 1Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 2Williamson's Sapsucker - 1 male at Pueblo Reservoir of all placesLadder-backed Woodpecker - 2Black Phoebe - 2Say's Phoebe - around 10 or morePygmy Nuthatch - 1Eastern BluebirdsWestern BluebirdsNorthern Mockingbird - 2Sage ThrashersChipping, Lincoln's, Swamp, White-throated SparrowsCommon Grackle - 1Great-tailed GracklesCassin's FinchesLesser GoldfinchesEvening Grosbeak - 1 Again, no Mourning Doves or Brewer's Blackbirds. Some other totals were low, like only two Western Meadowlarks. Some totals were quite high, with Sage Thrashers and Cassin's Finches, among other birds.
