Yesterday, my wife and I took a walk along St. Vrain Creek in Lyons. Old
St. Vrain Rd. was quite lively in early afternoon. Our first finds were a
single female Pine Grosbeak and White winged Junco at a residents feeders.
Then, as we passed a section of close rock wall a quite active Canyon Wren
gave us a whole series of good looks as it rushed in and out of each shadow
filled gap. Just several minutes passed and Sally spotted a Dipper emerging
from the creeks swift flow. Lastly, a light adult female Rough legged
Hawk passed overhead. Good Holiday Birding, Carl Starace and Sally
Swain, Niwot
