Birders,

Two Rusty Blackbirds persist below the dam of Adobe Creek Reservoir (Bent
County). Drive west from Bent County Road 10 on Road UU to the dam. I think
it is easiest to see them if you park at the headgate, walk past the cattle
guard, and walk downstream on the west side of the seep below the dam. As
temperatures have moderated, you may have to walk as far as 200 yards to
find them. Ice forms on the stream 200 yards below the dam. They hide in
tamarisk sometimes, but are vocal, and almost always end up feeding along
the stream providing good views. The male is molting, and looks like a
summer bird. The female is now pretty gray.
