A female-type Purple Finch appeared at my feeders in Las Animas (Bent County) this afternoon. This bird has been around very irregularly since January 9th, with weeks sometimes passing between sightings. It may be easier to see in bad weather, which is unfortunate for potential viewers, as driving on the eastern plains during snow events is anything but mellow.
