Birders,

I thought today might be a no-show for Purple and Cassin's Finches at my
feeders in Las Animas, but the Cassin's Finch finally appeared at 12:40 p.m,
and the Purple Finch at 1 p.m. I must have captured lightning in a bottle,
because both posed "side by each" (an old Upper Peninsula of Michigan term)
on my platform feeder at 2:20 this afternoon. If present, the birds are
never the first birds of the day, or the last birds of the day to leave, and
may be most reliable between noon and 3 p.m.
