On Wednesday morning I was driving up to Laramie and was heading W from I-25 to 287 via Owl Canyon Road N of Ft. Collins. I stopped to snap a picture of a western meadowlark and saw something that didn't look like the geese flying nearby. I had a hunch they were sandhill cranes so I snapped a few pictures as they were too far away for me to definitively tell with the naked eye. I forgot about it until this evening and just pulled them up and zoomed in on the computer. Sure enough, two sandys! It was probably around 10:00 a.m. and they were on the north side of owl canyon road across from the largest body of water on the road about 1/3 of the way to 287 from I-25.
