On April 5, Dexter reported that the Pacific Loon continues. --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Dexter flying over Nucla on 4 April. OTERO COUNTY: --A Snowy Plover was reported by Peterson at Lake Cheraw on March 29. --A Carolina Wren was reported by Dowell at Higbee Cemetery and environs on April 5. OURAY COUNTY: --A Black Phoebe was reported by Kent Nelson about 50 yards downsgtrem from Bill Creek SWA on April 3. PARK COUNTY: --A Barrow's Goldeneye was reported by Winkler at Eleven Mile Reservoir on April 5. PUEBLO COUNTY: --On March 25, Clark Jones reported a Tundra Swan in a field on the south side of Hwy 96 E just past the airport. --On March 28, Leppek reported 2 ACORN WOODPECKERS and a Williamson's Sapsucker at Pueblo Mountain Park. --On April 5, Percival reported that Pearl Sandstrom-Smith and Cliff Smith found a m Vermilion Flycatcher at Pueblo Reservoir. The flycatcher has been moving around the area. Brandon will post in the morning if the Vermilion Flycatcher is still around on Monday. RIO GRANDE COUNTY: --The Black Brant was reported by Simmons S of Monte Vista NWR on the W side of Hwy 15 on April 2. She said that a scope was needed to identify the bird. TELLER COUNTY: --2 Williamson's Sapsuckers were reported by Cody Port on CR 300 on March 31. WASHINGTON COUNTY: --2 Mountain Plovers, 3 -5 McCown's Longspurs, and 6+ Chestnut-collared Longspurs were reported by Breitsch on CR KK between CR 20 and CR 19 on April 1. On April 5, Mark Miller reported 20 Chestnut-collared and 10 McCown's Longspurs on CR KK and a Mountain Plover at CR KK and CR 20. WELD COUNTY: --On April 5, Kaempfer reported McCown's Longspurs at Murphy's Pasture. --On April 5, Kaempfer reported Chestnut-colllared Longspurs on CR 86 W of CR 105. YUMA COUNTY: --An Eastern Phoebe was reported by Breitsch at the Wray Fishing Unit, just NW of Wray on March 25. The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, April 11 will be to Morrison Nature Center led by A. The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, April 12, will be to Cherry Creek SP Wetlands led by Karen von Saltza (kvonsaltza AT yahoo.com, 303-942-4881). Meet at Prairie Loop at Cherry Creek SP at 0830. This is a half day trip passing through diverse habitats in three miles. Trails could be slippery so dress accordingly. Bring water and snacks; lunch optional. State Parks pass or day pass required.
