The Mottled Duck present at Lake Beckwith yesterday morning, Colorado City, SW
Pueblo County, has not been seen after 10AM, 4-10-15. If accepted by the CBRC,
it would represent only the 2nd confirmed record for CO. But CO birders should
keep a lookout for Mottled Ducks because of the recent accepted report in
summer 2013 & hybrids sighted in Pueblo the past few days(probable Mottled x
Mallard). With Mexican & Mottled type Ducks showing more frequently in CO,
these birds may be establishing a pattern of more regular vagrancy in our state.
