The flooded agricultural fields in the Canon City and Florence areas continue to bring in migrating shorebirds and waterbirds. Today there were 4 Greater and 1 Lesser Yellowlegs and several White-faced Ibis east Florence. Yesterday 2 Wilson's Phalarope swam in a flooded field there. While the numbers of Franklin's Gulls has decreased at least 25 or so remain and may be found in flooded fields in Canon City or on our Valco Ponds (seems it does not matter that this is private property as I have seen 3 more birders trespassing to look at birds there). Yesterday a Peregrine Falcon stopped by our Valco Ponds to look for prey but left circling the ponds without going after anything. The Eastern Phoebe sitting on eggs is still sitting tight, she picked a very protected area that provided shelter from the copious rain showers we had the past two days.
