I spent 4 days in Baca-Prowers-Bent-Kiowa counties (the southeast corner of Colorado) last weekend. Saw a lot of ravens, seems like more than previous years. Oddly, they all appeared to me (and my birding companions) to be Common Ravens. In past years, I have encountered more Chihuahuans in this area, and few Common Ravens. This year, I saw no likely candidates for Chihuahuan Raven during my 4 days in the region. Have other birders noticed this lack of Chihuahuan Ravens in southeast Colorado? Or an increase in Common Ravens? Could Common Ravens be displacing Chihuahuans in this area?
