After being stopped at the Crow Valley gate this morning, I decided to continue 
on to Sterling.

Short-eared Owl (roadkill at SR14 and Weld CR390 = about 9 miles west of New 
Raymer)

Pioneer Park  on the west side of Sterling highlights
Eastern Bluebird (pair)
Least Flycatcher (10, at least)
Blackpoll Warbler (3m, 2f)
American Redstart (1i m)
Veery (1)
Swainson's Thrush (lots)
Yellow Warbler (20+)

Sterling Cemetery
Blue Grosbeak (1m)
Baltimore Oriole (1m)
Least Flycatcher (2)
Yellow Warbler (15+)

Lots of flooded roads around Merino/Prewitt Res

CR8 at the Platte River s of Merino
Eastern Phoebe (2)

Flooded field west of Merino on US6
Ring-billed Gull (50)
Bonaparte's Gull (1)
Franklin's Gull (10)
Lesser Yellowlegs (6)
American Avocet (1)

Prewitt Res (didn't go in because of no permit)
Lark Sparrow gathering nest material, lots of tail fanning

Stopped by McMurry Natural Area in Fort Collins as I got to town at the end of 
the day (action area is west of the parking lot)
Lots of birders

Green Heron (FOY)
White-throated Sparrow (FOY)
Worm-eating Warbler first found by David Wade persists west of the parking lot 
on both sides of the trail at times
Mourning Warbler persists in the plums and boxelders on the north side of the 
trail that goes w from the parking lot (NOTE:  in the area there are at least 
two MacGillivray's Warblers (1m, 1i m or adult f (limited eyering, whitish 
throat)  with which both the Mourning's voice and a poor glimpse could be 
confused)
