During a 2-hour walk near home, with cloudy sky and a few sprinkles we heard, emanating from a patch of willows, the unmistakable song of a Bell's Vireo, but impossible to see. A couple of hours later, we returned and glimpsed a very active, very hard-to-see, very small bird (enough to pick out the field marks).
This makes 268 species in what we call the "Franktown Basin" -- Castlewood Canyon State Park, Gateway Mesa & Hidden Mesa Open Space, Franktown, and vicinity.
