Hello,

While kayaking the flooded forest of Plum Creek, in Chatfield State Park
today, I found two singing Red-Eyed Vireos. The first was on the northeast
corner of the Plum Creek Picnic Area, and the other was about 200 meters
northeast of that in the forest. You could probably hear them singing if
you walked up to the water's edge.

Interesting how many birds are still very abundant even where the water
completely covers the understory. I found a nesting pair of House Wrens. I
didn't find any Chats or Towhees over the deep water, as I expected. I did
not find any Song Sparrows...

Cheers,

Francis Commercon, Douglas County, CO.
