Hello, Birders.

Lots of birds this sunny Saturday morning, May 30, along the generally
north-to-south transect from Gun Barrel Hill to Teller Farms, Boulder
County, including:

2 *black-chinned hummingbirds* and 1 *gray flycatcher* in an intriguing
patch of scrubby, rocky habitat near the southeast corner of Gun Barrel
Hill. Looked like something out of Southeast Colorado. Thought I heard a
distant canyon towhee in there, too, but hard to hear over all the spotted
towhees.

1 *orchard oriole* and a territorial *willow flycatcher* near Boulder
Creek. Audio of the song of the flycatcher: http://www.xeno-canto.org/246747

1 singing *Brewer sparrow* and 3 *grasshopper sparrows* near the southeast
corner of Gun Barrel Hill. Audio of the
grappers: http://www.xeno-canto.org/246743 and
http://www.xeno-canto.org/246744

3 *bobolinks* and 1 *savannah sparrow* in the wet hayfields south of Teller
Lake No. 5. Audio of the sparrow: http://www.xeno-canto.org/246745

2 territorial *eastern warbling vireos.*
Audio: http://www.xeno-canto.org/246741 and http://www.xeno-canto.org/246742

singing *blue grosbeaks* and displaying *Wilson snipes* widely scattered

as to migrants, a weakly singing *western tanager* and a lustily singing
*Swainson
thrush,* both near Teller Lake No. 5

*Western meadowlarks* galore. In this recording, you can hear four
vocalization types: http://www.xeno-canto.org/246746

In the totally random department, a *Franklin gull* flying past.

checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S23707057
