COBirders,

Saturday morning at our cabin in NW Custer County we had a short visit
from one (only!) Red Crossbill. It was a type 5, I think, and did not
vocalize. It's dull but fresh red plumage showed it to be a male. First
crossbill we've seen there in maybe two decades. Since we are absent a good
part of the time in cold weather there might have been many visits we
missed, however one would think that we would have seen a few during that
time.
