Hi all: Was astounded to read the postings about the condor being collected in Black Forest. Here’s a little more to the story.....
On Friday, May 29, 11:00 am I received a call from a local birder that a visitor to the MVNWR reported seeing what he thought was a California Condor. The report stated the man had lived in California and had seen condors and turkey vultures and he was sure it was not a turkey vulture. The report said it was 2 miles north of the MV Refuge, which put it only 2 miles from my house. So here is what I posted on our local hotline within that hour.... “Okay so just heard from a source that maybe that wayward California Condor is now in the San Luis Valley. Report said 2 miles north of the Monte Vista Refuge. So gang, if you are able, lets get out there and see if we can find it. Please post if you do find it with details. John ps: Im out the door for a quick look now. “ I had limited time (last day of school activities for daughters going on) so looked for it but did not find. So, could this have been the same bird?
