Correction!

After having a little coffee and listening to some spizella recordings
online, I'm thinking it is much more likely that the 1 and 2 note calls I
heard were actually the very rapid/buzzy calls of a CHIPPING SPARROW, not
Clay-colored.

I'd never heard single note calls from Clay-colored (just 2 note), nor 2
note calls from Chipping (2 birds perhaps?).

My apologies for the false alarm! :-)
