Sept 22 Early this morning a *Marsh Wren* was in a patch of cattails off Massey Draw below my home in Ken Caryl Valley for a nifty yard bird. A little later I was surprised to hear and then see 3 *Pinyon Jays* flying north over the Lyons formation hogback while I was along the Columbine Trail on Ken Caryl Ranch property just east of South Valley Park.
Still later I had an opportunity to stop at Spinney Mountain Reservoir in Park County which remained largely dull for birding except for one *Red Phalarope* off by itself on the lake. Also three returning *Bufflehead* (assumed based on none summering there). Over at Eleven Mile Reservoir I found one adult *Sabine's Gull* in alternate plumage sitting on the lake.
