There were two *Red-necked Grebes* over a mile apart at Chatfield SP this morning, both feeding amid flocks of *Western Grebes* on the Jefferson County side, though visible from Douglas, too. One was off the Massey Draw Picnic Area and the other was south of the Swim Beach. I didn't see anything else of special note in the park and it was pretty windy. But 4 *Canvasbacks *off the Platte inlet were my first in the local area this season.
Near sunrise a *Rough-legged Hawk *was riding the wind above the Lyons formation hogback in South Valley Park. As I type a *Townsend's Solitaire* is perched in my front yard.
