Woodpecker tapping was the first thing I heard early this morning as I
walked out the back door to restock my feeders. It turned out to be a
juvenile *Yellow-bellied Sapsucker *working busily in a pine tree.
It remained in the yard for at least 15 minutes, visiting various trees. I
managed some iPhone photos. Then it flew to a neighbor's yard and I did not
see it again in the short time I was able to remain at home before leaving
for the day. It was a state bird for me.
