John Rutenbeck and I were also at Cherry Creek on the 9th and saw only the 
female Black Scoter but could have easily missed the male from that 
distance.  In addition, I snapped a few pics of a very distant Pacific Loon 
and the best one can be seen here <https://flic.kr/p/ASbfYS>.

We were struck by how prominently the gray hind neck could be seen from 
this distance.  This photo is also heavily cropped.
