Folks- 32 teams headed out on the 74th Boulder CBC yesterday, spanning
plains, riparian, urban, and foothills habitat in our count circle. Our
preliminary day's total is 110 species, with an additional 2 count-week
birds seen. I am still awaiting several territory reports and hope
additional species might be added.

In terms of historic occurrence, the best species was a pair of
White-winged Doves with one prior detection on the Boulder Count. Barrow's
Goldeneye, Common Loon, and Northern Cardinal all had three prior tallies,
and House Wren, Gray Catbird, and Pine Warbler had been recorded 4 times
prior to yesterday. Golden-crowned Sparrow made a 6th count appearance,
Lesser Black-backed Gull an 8th, and Tundra Swan a 10th time to round out
birds seen 10 or fewer times in 74 counts.

Many thanks to the leaders who organize each territory and to the
participants and feeder watchers who make this such a great count!

Enjoy- Bill Schmoker, Boulder CBC Compiler
