Hi all Great day for raptoring with about 20 or so enthusiastic birders! We set a record by my account with 89 total raptors in 4-5 hours time.
Highlights of day included two Merlin (lifer for some), Golden Eagles (lifer for some), a "tornado" of Horned Larks (multiple thousands) that had numerous raptors chasing and watching flock, and a very friendly Rough-legged Hawk that flew about 30 feet directly over our group and landed on fencepost right next to vehicles--staying the entire time as folks got great photo closeups of the photogenic bird. Ferruginous Hawk - 14 Bald Eagle - 4 Northern Harrier - 17 Red-tailed Hawk - 18 Prairie Falcon - 3 Unknown buteo - 7 Great Horned Owl - 1 Rough-legged Hawk - 5 Merlin - 2 American Kestrel - 15 Cooper's Hawk - 1 Golden Eagle - 2 Finally got around to doing a map of route for those interested ... http://coloradobirder.ning.com/photo/raptor-alley-map-nunn-co Thanks Gary Lefko, Nunn http://coloradobirder.ning.com/ Mobile: http://coloradobirder.ning.com/m -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
