Hello, Birders.

Yesterday afternoon, Sunday, Feb. 7, Andrew Floyd and I had pretty much the
whole Denver Zoo to ourselves. Well, us and the animals. I wonder why... ;-)

We found a number of interesting birds, including an apparent *mottled duck
x mallard* hybrid, a *white-throated sparrow,* 8 *common grackles,* a
*merlin,* 13 *Indian peafowl,* and 2+ *brown creepers.* Over at nearby City
Park, a *graylag goose* consorted with the *cackling geese* and *Canada
geese,* and Ferril Lake was aswarm with noisy *northern shovelers,* the
males' pea-green heads aglow in the setting sun. Call it the green flash,
haha.
