Hi,
Tried for the Iceland Gull and Lbb Gull late this morning (2/14) at Windsor
Lake and only saw ring-bills and Herring. Your photos of the Iceland were
beautiful.

Subject: [cobirds] Yesterday: Morgan and Weld: ICELAND GULL

Greetings

Water, water, wherefore art thou o' open water?

Despite frozen reservoir, David Dowell and I had excellent birding yesterday

Jackson Reservoir had a scattering of low-level rarities including Mountain
Bluebird, YR Warbler, and WT Sparrow. Among swirling flocks of Cackling/Canada
Geese in cornfields there was a Snow x Canada Goose hybrid. The state parks was
filled with hundreds of robins, dozens of juncos and Blue Jays (>60), 30+ Cedar
Waxwings, an nice smattering of goldfinches, etc.

One field to the south of the reservoir has dense long bent weeds. This field
has been filled with sparrows for months, as it was yesterday with nearly 500
WC Sparrows and one WT Sparrow. Oddly, there were no tree sparrows or Song
Sparrows. A Prairie Merlin and a Northern Harrier perused the field for lunch.

Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley was nearly birdless, though the cross-the-road
pond a decent variety of ducks

Seeley Reservoir had some open water and a nice variety of waterfowl.

Windsor Lake was frozen. But there were a number of dead fish and ?dead
waterfowl? stuck in ice. Feeding there was an adult ICELAND GULL and juv LBB
GULL, a smattering of Herring and RB Gulls, a few Bald Eagles and Crows

Near Severance there was a very early (?) or wintering (?) SAY'S PHOEBE.

Photos of Iceland Gull are the first three in my photostream on Flickr:
