Hi all About two or three years ago the abundant rookery here was thriving 80-100 birds on nests--the following week every one of them were gone mysteriously. The last two years for most part no nesting birds.
Sunday I visited (hoping) and found a Black-crowned Night Heron <http://coloradobirder.ning.com/photo/black-crowned-night-heron-glenmere-park-greeley-weld> and a Snowy Egret <http://coloradobirder.ning.com/photo/snowy-egret-glenmere-park-greeley-weld>! Hopefully more to follow. Plenty of Great-tailed Grackle <http://coloradobirder.ning.com/photo/great-tailed-grackle-weld-cr-48-marsh-lasalle-weld> (12+) along Weld CR 48 as well as Wilson's Snipe (6)--here are four <http://coloradobirder.ning.com/photo/wilson-s-snipe-weld-cr-48-marsh-lasalle-weld> together. Along Beebe Draw Swainson's Hawk (6) here is one <http://coloradobirder.ning.com/photo/swainson-s-hawk-beebe-draw-lasalle-weld> and one other <http://coloradobirder.ning.com/photo/swainson-s-hawk2-beebe-draw-lasalle-weld>. I've seen multiple in Nunn-area as well. A pair chased a Great Horned Owl from its roost at Behren's Lake--btw lake is full of water (and waterfowl). Stood atop my car to get a peek at it ... :-) Burrowing Owl population now up to three along Weld CR 33 (btw 98/100) here is newlywed pair <http://coloradobirder.ning.com/photo/burrowing-owl-weld-cr-33-btw-98-100-nunn-weld> and a current bachelor <http://coloradobirder.ning.com/photo/burrowing-owl3-weld-cr-33-btw-98-100-nunn-weld> .
