I made a quick stop late this afternoon at the reservoir. I watched from the
western side from the fence. A scope will help.

A beautiful breeding plumage, Common Loon was present far out in the middle of
the lake. I do not know if it is the same one that I saw on 4/28 or a new
arrival.

The same group of Western Grebes were present along with Horned and Eared
Grebes [ the latter two were in small numbers]. The same dabbling Ducks which I
saw on 4/28 were also present. I saw no Scaup , Redhead, or Common Merganser
today.

2, Lesser Yellowlegs, 2, Spotted Sandpiper, 1, Semipalmated Sandpiper, 1,
Semipalmated Plover[4 individuals were seen on 4/28], 1, Killdeer, and 3,
American Avocet were seen on the small mud spit from the west side. The
Wilson's Phalarope had all left.

Many Swallows were present but numbers were less than several days ago, but
there were enough to make me dizzy. Two, male Brewer's Blackbirds were walking
along the small rocks. What concerned me was seeing 2, Great-tailed Grackles,
since Marston is pretty close to my house. It is the first time I have seen
this bird at Marston. One, Mountain Bluebird was also observed.

In Jefferson County today in my yard, were Chipping Sparrows, 1, White-crowned
Sparrow, 1, Lincoln's Sparrow, and 1, female Brewer's Blackbiird [all
migrants]. My typical resident birds, were competing with rabbits for millet.

Happy Birding !!
