I was out for a long bike ride in the chilly wind and drizzle this morning and just a few notes, all Jefferson Co (Littleton vicinity): Not super birdy up Deer Creek Canyon Rd but heard gnatcatchers, a couple Lazuli buntings and yellow warblers, plus the residents calling and singing up a storm. Had a dipper calling (my first in the canyon vicinity) just up S Deer Creek road a bit. Lots of sparrows on Cougar Rd but without binocs, poor lighting even when they were close, nor actually stopping I couldn't be sure of what they were but I think Chipping. Tried for White throated swifts a couple times around S Valley Park and the hogback ridge but I guess they were smarter than me and stayed home.
S Platte Res- at least a thousand swallows over and around the lake about 10:45. Again, didn't stop but barn and tree were seen and heard. The common loon was very close to the west edge of the res in Jefferson Co. That's a nice biking bird!
