The Breeding Bird Survey has a great set of volunteers running routes in Colorado. You've read reports from some this summer about their findings & adventures.
The last remaining volunteer from Ron Ryder'soriginal crew of 1968 retired from his route this year. Lowell McEwen has run the Last Chance route for forty-six--46 years -- annually since 1968. He finally decided to retire from the route after running it this year. Congratulations to Lowell for sucn an imprssive record. Volunteers like him make Colorado field ornithology outstanding.
