Hi COBirders,

I had a record-breaking day of banding at Clear Spring Ranch today. The hay
field across the road from my station is getting deep, and there is a constant
coming and going there. To see what might happen I put up some nets by some
bushes there, and the floodgates opened.
60 Chipping Sparrows, 7 Black-headed Grosbeaks, 3 Lazuli Buntings, a Blue
Grosbeak, 3 Com Yellowthroats, a Lark Sparrow, a Savannah Sparrow, and some
rare catches - 2 more Northern Waterthrush (#3, 4 this week), a Clay-colored
Sparrow, a female Indigo Bunting, and a Willow Flycatcher.

And of note, only six birds were caught in my normal lanes. Sigh.

Happy Migration,
Steve Brown
