Twelve birders joined up today for the CFO field trip to NE Colorado. Today we birded Prewitt Reservoir, North Sterling State Park and the town of Sterling and ended up the day with a cumulative total of 107 species.
Prewitt Reservoir highlights: Western Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Pectoral Sandpiper; Williamson Sapsucker, Great Crested Flycatcher, Townsend's Warbler, Northern Waterthrush and American Redstart (4). North Sterling State Park highlights: Red-necked Phalarope (3), Pectoral Sandpiper Sterling (town): Mississippi Kite (6), American Redstart (2), Black-headed Grosbeak Tomorrow we will bird from Tamarack to Jumbo and back.
