I went to Last Chance, Co. late on 10/5/2016. Lot's of White-crowned Sparrows, Yellow-rumped Warblers, fair amount of Eurasian Collared-Doves, 1, Vesper Sparrow, across from the pond in a field, American Robins, and to my surprise, 1, SORA [juvenile].
The SORA was swimming part time and then walking in the water, feeding on pond weed. It amazes me how this specie tends to find the Last Chance pond. The others I have seen in this pond have been adults. House Sparrows were feeding on the seed heads of Catnip [Nepeta cataria]. Goldfinches and House Finches love to feed on Catnip seeds also.
