Hi all, I birded a few spots around the Roaring Fork Valley this am, mostly 
with Tom McConnell – thanks for the ride Tom

Temps ranged from 20F up to 41F, but the breezy conditions

Highlights included

Snowmass Village Golf Course, on the pond by Black Saddle parking lot
2 Eared Grebes

Spring Park Reservoir, El Jebel
1 Common Loon
14 Barrow’s Goldeneyes
10,000 (estimate!) Swallows – mostly Tree
..but not a single gull nor a shorebird in sight

Coulter Creek
1.Swainson’s Hawk

Crystal Springs Road area
1 American Avocet
1 Hooded Merganser (fem)
1 Lark Sparrow
2 Vesper Sparrows, sev Chipping Sparrows, Yellow-headed Blackbirds

Sev broods of recently fledged Canada Geese – trying to stay warm and safe

Yesterday, Friday

2 Black Phoebes, Carbondale by the Crystal River just downstream of the Fish 
Hatchery. Thanks for the help in locating them Mary, much appreciated
