Birders, As I was trying to get out of the house to go to a hearing about 12:15, I saw a sparrow on the patio and grabbed the binocs. My first thought was an Ammodramus with fairly heavy streaking on the breast, dark marking on the front and a very light median crown stripe. I went for the camera and when I returned a Scrub-jay had flushed it. I assumed it was a Grasshopper Sparrow but had to leave w/o a picture. When I returned a short while ago, I checked Sibley and am not convinced it was a Grasshopper but some other Ammodramus. I'm going to stake out the patio with my camera for the afternoon unless I chase a LB Curlew just north of here.
