Hey COBirders, Today was just the opposite from yesterday: a fast start with a good arrival of migrants at dawn, then a rapid drop-off after 8:30 a.m.
The male Yellow-Warblers and Com Yellowthroats were out in force, chasing competitors, and singing like crazy. In their distracted state I was able to net and band 5 Yellow Warblers and 4 Com Yellowthroats, plus a parade of birds banded in previous seasons, all arriving today! FOS Gray Catbird (1 banded 5/15), FOS Yellow-breasted Chat (4, 2 banded 5/16, 1 banded 5/15), Yellow Warbler (banded 5/16), Com Yellowthroat (2 banded 5/16, 1 banded 8/16)), House Wren (banded 8/16). Again my best morning this season. So nothing really unusual, just lots of recaptures all on the same day. Pretty cool that they all find their way here at the same time.
