Hey COBirders, At clear Spring Ranch this morning it was miserable wet, cold, windy, muddy, corn snow, and threatening, so, naturally, the birds were spectacular.
A very good day for me at CSR is 30 banded birds. I had 50 before 8:30. I was still catching a few birds when I finally closed at 12:30. Total 73 birds today. Two Northern Waterthrush were caught early on, and small waves of several other species. The rush was over by 9:00, but small numbers continued to show up continuously. 7 species of warblers banded. Quite a morning! Today: Least Flycatcher (FOS) 3 Dusky Flycatcher 3 Warbling Vireo (FOS) House Wren 10 Gray Catbird Brown Thrasher 2 N Waterthrush Orange-crowned Warbler 8 MacGillivray's Warbler 4 Com Yellowthroat 5 Yellow Warbler Wilson's Warbler 5 Yellow-breasted Chat Clay-colored Sparrow (FOS) Mountain White-crowned Sparrow 8 Lincoln's Sparrow 2 Black-headed Grosbeak 7 Lazuli Bunting Lesser Goldfinch (FOS) 4 American Goldfinch and a few others I can't remember at the moment.
