I returned today from a weekend trip to Auburn, NE for the spring meetings of
the Nebraska Ornithologists Union meeting. While I had a great time back
there, I wanted to update Cobirds on some Logan County birds since there have
been so few reports from that section of the state.

Red Lion marsh was full of birds, and water. That limited the variety of
shorebirds to just Killdeer and phalaropes, but the later included both
Wilson's and at least 15 Red-necked. A Great Egret was also a slightly
unexpected presence.

A few miles to the west on CR 85 less than a mile north of US 138 I stopped in
one spot and could see Upland Sandpiper, Northern Pintail, Savannah Sparrow and
Burrowing Old on the four points of the compass.

I should also note that when I left for NE on Thursday I counted 47 Stilt
Sandpipers at Stalker Pond in Wray.
