This morning, before leaving the rain in Huerfano County behind us, Paul saw the female Northern Goshawk at the corner of our property. We were excited to she see is still around as we had not seen her for many weeks!
We headed to Fountain Creek Regional Park in hopes of re-finding the Bay-breasted Warbler. While we, and many others, missed the warbler by a day we did re-find: Yellow-billed Cuckoo (FOS for us and quite confiding...for a cuckoo...allowing us continued viewing for quite awhile! 2 female and one lovely male American Redstart Blue Grosbeak Red-eyed Vireo (new Colorado bird for me and my pick for bird of the day!) The trails at the park proved to be very wheelchair friendly. This was our first time out for a full day of birding since I broke my pelvis 7 weeks ago. Have not been able to take being in the car for more than short trips. Was good to be out and about in the fresh air and feel the sun on my face!
