Although I haven't found any Dickcissel in the hay field on MacKenzie Ave
adjacent to Grandview Ave where they have been easily observed in past
several years, there are now 2 Dickcissels further south on the east side
of MacKenzie in the hay field to the north of Adams Ave. Both were singing
frequently today. It is safer to pull over on the west side of the road as
there is a bar ditch next to the fence on the east side of MacKenzie in
that area. If you pull onto Adams you may pique the interest of
Corrections officers since the other side of that road is Dept of
Corrections property (the external security drove over to check me out this
morning. And be careful on MacKenzie as people drive 50+ in that 40 mph
zone. I have not located any Bobolink here yet.

I continue to see Cedar Waxwing near the Sell's Lake area of the Canon City
Riverwalk.

I found 8 Dickcissel in weedy fields on the Fort Lyons Wildlife Area
today. I did not find any in the usual hay fields in the Fort Lyons
area--many fields had already been cut and many had corn instead of alfalfa
planted in them.

My birding was cut short today when I got a flat tire. That is the second
flat this week, both related to birding. Anybody tried those new Run Flat
tires?

I got a photo of the Eastern Phoebe sitting on eggs in Canon City that I
have uploaded to my Birds and Nature blog
<http://birdsandnature.blogspot.com/>. As I note on the pics I complied
with *Nestwatch.com <http://Nestwatch.com>* Nest Photography Guidelines.
