Denver Field Ornithologists Field Trips The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, July 16 will be to Riverside Cemetery/Platte River led by Kevin Corwin (kevygudguy AT aol.com; 720-482-8454). Entrance is at 5201 Brighton Blvd in Denver. Gates open at 0800. Will park on west side of the office building. Will wander the paths of the cemetery and check its wetlands and woodlands, then exit back gate to river. Will walk along riverside path to Northside Park and Heron Pond Wildlife Refuge, then retrace step back to cemetery. Basic restroom facilities are available in a shed on the east side of the office building. Bring water, snacks, and footwear for dirt or mud paths. Scopes optional. Register online or contact leader. The DFO Field Trip for Tuesday, July 18 will be to Chatfield State Park led by David Suddjian (dsuddjian AT gmail.com; 831-713-8659) Meet for car-pooling at 0530 at the intersection of S Wadsworth and Deer Creek Rd. Park on the north side of Deer Creek Rd which is just south of C-470. State Parks pass or day pass required. Will pick 2-3 areas to explore on foot, with about 4 miles total walking. Bring snacks and drinks in a day pack. Wear footwear for hiking. Will encounter poison ivy. Register online or contact leader. The DFO Field Trip for Friday, 21 July will be to Mt Evans area led by Lynn Willcockson (Lynnliz2698 AT aol.com; 303-757-7000). Meet at 0800 at Fillius Park shelter house. Take I-70 west to exit 252 to Evergreen Parkway (Hwy 74(. Go 2.6 miles to first traffic light and turn right into Fillius Park. Will arrange carpools for 10-mile drive towards Mt Evans. Will take easy strolls, including echo Lake and Summit Lake. Dress for Changeable weather. Bring lunch, water, snacks, and sunscreen. Register online or contact leader.
