Hey COBirders,

It has been pretty slow banding at Clear Spring Ranch since the eclipse.
Mostly I’m catching local hatch-year birds, and only a few migrants. Lately
I’ve caught several juv chickadees, chats, and catbirds, today a very brown and
streaked HY Spotted Towhee, and a W Wood-Pewee that somehow fluttered into a
net even though it had a 15mm tail, and wings a full cm shorter than they are
supposed to be. Lots of growing still to do!

Today I only caught one Spizella sparrow, an adult Brewer’s Sparrow; I have
only banded a handful of these at CSR, for some reason.

Also Yellow Warbler #55 for the season, a new year high, and a FOS
MacGillivray’s Warbler (HY female).

(Hoping for a weather change, soon!)
