Hey COBirders, Cool, calm, cloudy, dry - a perfect day for migration banding at Clear Spring Ranch today. 42 birds banded on an extended morning - until 12:30, because it never got hot, and small birds were moving the entire time.
Mostly the “usual suspects” for this time of September, Yellow Warblers, Wilsons Warblers, catbirds, Yellowthroats, a Lazuli Bunting female, lotsa Chipping Sparrows, and Clay-colored Sparrows #5, #6 for this season. (I had 50 of them by this time last year, during the “Sparrowfest” at CSR.) If clear - check out birds crossing the full moon with your scope this week. It was too cloudy last night here, but Sat/Sun we had 30-40 birds crossing the moon/hour around 8pm.
