I have not seen the Facebook photos, so I cannot say more than IMHO the two original photos look like MODO. However, earlier this summer in Fort Collins I saw what I thought may be a MODO x ECDO hybrid - it was feeding and associating with a normal looking ECDO, however the bird in question had at least the two central retrices very obviously longer than the others, particularly obvious in flight. Not sure how to explain that besides MODO genes? Otherwise it looked like typical ECDO. Good birding, Derek Hill Milliken, CO [email protected]
