Today Tom Whitten and I saw Philadelphia Vireos at Barr Lake in Adams
County, in two different locations.
First one was on the trail that runs from the banding station east then
north, on the west side of the small pond just off of the boardwalk to the
viewing blind. A bright bird, tucked in deep in willows, working 4 to 5
feet above ground.

Second one was no more than 100 yards from the boat ramp parking area going
towards the banding station. Working low as well, mostly near the ground
but went up and down. A drab bird, thus it took a bit of time to separate
from Warbling, although it didn't look right for Warbling from the start.
Even this paler bird had much more yellow underneath, especially throat and
undertail coverts. This bird seemed smaller than Warbling overall, mostly
due to a shorter tail, the head looked less angular, bill even seemed a bit
smaller, but the most interesting thing separating it from Warbling was in
addition to the prominent curved white line above the eye, it had small but
quite noticeable white below the eye (dark lores making it stand out more).
