Landbird migration has remained slow at Ken Caryl Valley (no public
access), but today there were a few species of interest and I encountered
individuals of some of the regular species which have been missing for me
in Ken Carly for the last 1-2 weeks. The highlights were 1 *Gray Flycatcher*,
1 *Orchard Oriole*, and 1 *Chimney Swift*.

Among the other migrants I noted this morning at Ken Caryl were 1 *Osprey*,
1 *Western Wood-Pewee*, 3 *Say's Phoebes*, about 20 *Barn Swallows*, 4 *House
Wrens*, 20+ *Mountain Bluebirds*, 3 *Townsend's Solitaires*, 4 *Blue-gray
Gnatcatchers*, 1 *Sage Thrasher*, 1 *Orange-crowned Warbler*, 3 *Audubon's
Warblers*, 7 *Wilson's Warblers*, 1 *MacGillivray's Warbler*, 2 *Lincoln's
Sparrows*, 1 *Green-tailed Towhee*, 1 *Western Tanager*, and 1 *Black-headed
Grosbeak*.

*Steller's Jays* are showing a stronger movement than I've noted in the
three prior falls that I've been here. Each day lately I find individuals
in areas where they are often missing, and there are loose flocks moving
through the area, consistently southward. For example, today I saw flocks
of 11 and 9 Steller's passing over local neighborhoods. *Woodhouse's
Scrub-Jay* is also more widespread than usual in the KC Valley, presently
occurring widely in areas where it is sporadic or usually absent. *Pine
Siskins* are numerous around by yard, with 75-100 there lately, and
widespread generally.
