Despite searches by Joe Mammoser, Gwen Moore, Janet Hardin and me this morning, NO Blackburnian Warbler appeared in our fields of view. Ditto for Townsend's Warbler. The big mixed flock dominated by a couple dozen Yellow-rumped Warblers it associated with appears to have moved on. Fun while it lasted.
Other birds seen today: Orange-crowned Warbler (at least 4) Wilson's Warbler (1) Yellow-rumped Warbler (few) Chipping Sparrow (15) Dark-eyed Junco (several pink-sides, FOS for me at GC, species has been seen here already by at least Josh Bruening, probably others) Ruby-crowned Kinglet (at least 3) All three expected nuthatches Both expected chickadees Western Tanager (1) Great Horned Owl [No red-phase Eastern Screech-Owl] Total of 27 species. Birds I have been expecting, sort of, but so far not seen at Grandview this autumn are: Winter Wren, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Steller's and/or Woodhouse's Jay, more crossbills, Pine Grosbeak, White-throated Sparrow, Sandhill Crane, more solitaires, Lincoln's Sparrow, and Evening Grosbeak.
